What's Happening in Summer 2021 - Samoens, Morillon, Sixt Fer-a-Cheval and the Grand Massif

Samoens, Morillon and Sixt Fer-a-Cheval are well known for their abundant summer mountain activities, perfect for those looking for an action packed holiday of adventure. But if you're looking for a more relaxing holiday, then you'll be pleased to know you are equally well catered for! There are a huge number of organised events in and around our villages, from live music concerts, festivals and arts, to top level sporting events and even car rallying! Not to mention the regular weekly markets, and of course, the many cafes, bars and restaurants, their sunny terraces, and stunning views!

Below is a list of the main events happening this summer in Samoens, MorillonSixt Fer-a-Cheval and the surrounding areas.

June 2021

4/6 - 'Petit train' tours begin - Samoens
Guided circuits around Samoens village on board the famous train!

16/6 - Swimming pool opening - Samoens
Samoens fantastic open-air swimming pool opens for the summer season.

26/6 - Grand Massif Express Gondola Opening - Samoens, Morillon, Sixt, Les Carroz, Flaine

July 2021

15/7 - 26/8 - F'Estival les Pépites - several live music concerts throughout July and August - Samoens

3/7 - Grand Massif Full Opening of Lifts - Samoens, Morillon, Sixt, Les Carroz, Flaine
(except the Chariande Express, Samoëns, which opens on July 10)

8-11/7 - Samoens American Festival - Samoens
A fantastic weekend of all things American - line dancing, Harley Davidsons, hamburgers and much more!

14/7 - Fête Nationale - Samoens
An evening of fireworks and music in Samoens village centre.

18/7 - 3rd Mölkky Alpine Open - Samoens
Samoens will host the the Alpine championships of Mölkky, a game of Finish origins.

15-31/7 - Festival Lyrique de Samoens - Samoens, Morillon, Sixt
Two weeks of live music, workshops and much more taking place throughout the valley.

25/7 - Adopte 1 COL ! - Samoens
For just one day, the Col de Joux Plane road is closed to vehicles and reserved for cyclists only. Come and take on this challenging climb made famous by the Tour de France.

August 2021

15/7 - 26/8 - F'Estival les Pépites - several live music concerts throughout July and August - Samoens

08/8 - Fete des Guides - Samoens
A celebration of our local mountain guides, come and discover all about them, and what they can offer you in the mountains.

15/8 - The Vertical Kilometre of the Criou - Samoëns
Watch the best KMV specialists in the world take on the challenge of one of the steepest races in France.

15/8 - August 15th Celebrations - Samoens
Enjoy a beautiful evening at the Lacs aux Dames with fireworks, music and a lantern parade.

28-29/8 - La Megawatt - Samoens
An electric mountain bike festival with bike show, guided rides and much more - come and give them a try!

September & October 2021

3-5/9 - Rally du Mont-Blanc - Samoens/Morillon
A great weekend of high level motorsport action in the mountains surrounding Samoens which is a round of the French National Rally Championship.

16-17/10 - Foire d'automne - Mieussy
A huge autumn fair which takes over the entire village! Music, street entertainment, local food, cider making demonstrations (and drinking!), and a flea market.

16-19/9 - Ultra Trail du Haute Giffre - Samoens valley
8 trail running races around the valley from a 1.5km kids races to a 127km epic! Brilliant fun for runners and spectators alike.

23-26/10 - Autumn Wellness - Samoens
Three days devoted to wellness which includes yoga, pilates, Swedish massage and reflexology
