Chalet Lys Martagon is a modern alpine chalet comprising of 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms sleeping 7/9 people. This bright and spacious chalet is beautifully arranged over three floors, offering an impressive 76m2 of living space.  It features a comfortable lounge with ample seating around the log fire for those cosy nights in.  The owners have  equipped the property it to a very high standard, with a wonderful homely feel incorporating plenty of locally sourced quality alpine furnishings.

The chalet boasts two balconies and a fantastic south facing terrace, and lawned area ideal for kids to play, with great views of the surrounding mountains. A table and chairs, sun loungers, and a BBQ are provided for guests to make the most of this chalet for holidays at all times of the year.

This property forms part of a small residence of 4 terraced chalets, set in a quiet and enviable location in Samoens. The chalet is just a 7 minute flat walk into the village and has a free ski bus which stops 2 minutes’ walk away. Alternatively, the Grand Massif Express Gondola is a flat and easy 10 minute walk, and if you chose to use one of our partner rental shops, ski equipment storage is available at the top or bottom of the ski lift. With a terrace area to the front and its positioning at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, with direct access to walking and biking routes, it offers a perfect holiday location throughout the year in a peaceful and safe setting.

A private locked garage provides secure, sheltered parking as well as great storage for ski equipment and bikes, while private off street parking is also available.

This property is privately owned and has been carefully selected to be in Alps Accommodation’s premier portfolio. It has a Saturday changeover day, however in low season and for last minute bookings, flexible arrival day and length of stay may be available. Contact us for more information.

Chalet Lys Martagon is cleverly arranged over 3 floors, offering 76m2 of comfortable and homely living. At the entrance, there is good space for storing outdoor clothing.  Leading from the hall is a cloakroom including a dry room for ski boot inners, and a washing machine.  Step into the modern alpine open plan kitchen, living and dining area, offering a cosy, yet bright and uplifting feel due to the south facing aspect.  An impressive log fire creates a warming focal point and can be left as an open fire, or with the glass front lowered. Large double sliding doors lead off the lounge area, allow the light to flood in and provide access to the furnished south facing terrace with views across to a waterfall.  (is this still the case since the other buildings?)
 
The kitchen comes superbly equipped, with ample casseroles and dishes, a raclette machine for cheese lovers, electric coffee machine, dishwasher, full size oven, fridge/freezer and microwave.  The owners of the chalet have ensured that all home from home comforts and conveniences have been incorporated.  The dining area has an extending table to seating up to 9 people, making it a flexible option for families and small groups alike. Following an exciting day in the mountains, you can enjoy a glass of wine and relax with Satellite TV and DVD player, PlayStation3, plus Wi-Fi is also provided free of charge throughout.
 
Stairs lead off the lounge area to the bedrooms and bathrooms arranged over the upper 2 levels of the property.  The charm of the property continues throughout, with beautifully furnished rooms and wonderful views from 2 further balconies.  A further TV and DVD player supplied in the loft bedroom for kids and (adults!) to enjoy their own space on holiday.

The first floor offers two bedrooms and two bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is a spacious double with en suite bathroom with large corner shower and sink and wc. There is also a balcony offering spectacular views. Next to this is the second double bedroom, again with a balcony offering waterfall views. Next to the bedroom is the second bathroom, with large corner shower, sink and wc. A guest hairdryer is supplied.

Stairs lead up to the third bedroom, which is a loft style twin bedroom. There is a TV and DVD player in this room so children can have their own space. Each bedroom also has an extra single pull out bed if required, so the property can sleep to 9 people.

The south facing terrace off the living area has outdoor dining furniture as well as sun loungers and plenty of space for outdoor relaxation. The terrace opens up onto a grassed area ideal for children to play while the parents supervise! A BBQ is also provided in the summer.

The chalet benefits from its own private parking and lockable garage offering secure storage for bikes, skis and any other mountain equipment.

Next to the garage is an additional large outdoor area, ideal for summer games or playing in the snow in winter time.

Chalet Lys Martagon is the ideal year-round holiday destination for families and friends alike. Set back from the Route de Sixt at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, the chalet provides plenty of space for children to play. Or simply sit back, relax and enjoy the quiet surrounds.

Samoëns’ bustling village centre is an easy, 7-minute walk away along a flat path that follows the old railway line. Visit the many shops, bars and restaurants, stroll through the botanical gardens, or admire the picturesque medieval town square with its beautiful church, ancient buildings and busy Wednesday morning market. There is also a small supermarket with bakery a mere 5-minute walk from the chalet – perfect for getting your freshly baked baguette and croissants for breakfast!

In winter, the free ski bus leaves from a stop just 2-minutes from the chalet. Running approximately every 15 minutes at peak times, you are guaranteed quick and easy access to the main Grand Massif Express lift and our impressive ski domain. Just a snowball’s throw from the chalet you will also find some excellent cross-country skiing terrain (dependent on snow conditions). These trails form a vast network of Nordic trails that run all up and down the valley. The newly built ice-skating rink is little more than a 10-minute walk from the chalet, offering guests yet another favourite winter pastime.

In the summer months a number of walking and mountain bike trails can be accessed within minutes of the property. The GR5, a long distance footpath stretching from the Hook of Holland to Nice, passes close to the chalet along the banks of the Giffre river. It is just one of many walks, long or short, that can be enjoyed from the front door of the chalet. The Grand Massif Express lift is also open throughout July and August, providing guests with access to even more hiking and biking options. Then there is the beautiful Bois Aux Dames lakes and leisure facility with swimming pools, tennis courts, golf driving range, horse riding and more, which is also within easy walking distance of the chalet – approximately 15-minutes.

Our time at Lys Martagon was a real delight. It ticks all the boxes if you are looking for a cosy, comfortable, well-equipped chalet in a quiet location and yet still close enough to the town centre and ski-bus access. Relaxing with a glass or two in front of an open fire after a hard day’s skiing with friends really added to the whole experience of our winter sports holiday.

About the Owner

We first visited Samoens in 2006 and loved it - so we bought our chalet here. We have been coming ever since and heartily recommend it. It's fantastic for families, of course in winter for the skiing but its also very beautiful in summer for the outdoor pool, lakes, adventure parks, rafting and climbing. Walking in the Autumn is particularly stunning and very quiet. The kids cycle around the village for fresh bread in the mornings and build dams by the river. We love the many walking and cycling routes and the wonderful alpine village centre with its traditional shops, bars and restaurants. Adrian and Melanie.
