Guests have pointed out the care taken by the owners to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay for families and other groups.
The chalet is in a terrace of 4 set among other typical Savoyard buildings at the end of a quiet cul de sac. An easy, 7 minute, flat walk along the path following the old railway line brings you to the village centre with its many restaurants, shops and bars. The free ski bus is 2 minutes walk from the chalet – running every 15 minutes at peak times. Alternatively, the Grand Massif Express Gondola is an easy 10 minute walk, and if you chose to use one of our partner rental shops, ski equipment storage is available at the top or bottom of the ski lift.
The heart of the chalet is a log fire surrounded by comfortable seating for everyone.
Next to the fire is a HDTV offering UK and French channels with a good collection of DVDs and CDs.
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the chalet. Under the stairs there is a lap-top friendly desk that has four UK power sockets for guests’ chargers and a direct Ethernet connection to the router.
Guests are invited to browse the wide selection of books. If you want to explore, there are local maps and guide books. For entertainment, there are a number of family board games.
The dining table seats 9 people, who can enjoy the cooking produced with the kitchen’s exceptional “Batterie de Cuisine” which includes a food processor and an electric hand whisk.
When the sun shines, the patio with an electric sun awning, table and chairs, provides extra living space – even in late winter-season. The garage containing four bikes and some children’s sledges are all available for guests’ use.
This property is privately owned and has been carefully selected to be in Alps Accommodation’s premier portfolio. It has a Saturday changeover day, however in low season and for last minute bookings, flexible arrival day and length of stay may be available. Contact us for more information.
The chalet comprises a good sized ground floor area with a fully equipped kitchen that has plenty of storage space including a large fridge freezer, washing machine/dryer, full size oven, microwave, dishwasher and ample crockery, cutlery and utensils. A Bosch Tassimo coffee machine, raclette machine and fondue set add a touch of luxury. The dining area with extendable table is comfortable for up to 9 people... perfect for a large family get together. Leading on from the dining area is a very comfortable lounge area with a large corner sofa around the cosy log fire, TV and DVD player. A full width sliding patio door provides excellent lighting to the room, great views onto the surrounding mountains and lead onto the terrace area. Also on the ground floor is a large heated boot and jacket storage cupboard as well as an extra toilet equipped with wash basin.

Chalet Cascade is the ideal year-round holiday destination for families and friends alike. Set back from the Route de Sixt at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, the chalet provides plenty of space for children to play. Or simply sit back and relax, enjoying the quiet surrounds.
Samoëns’ bustling village centre is an easy, 7-minute walk away along a flat path that follows the old railway line. Visit the many shops, bars and restaurants, stroll through the botanical gardens, or admire the picturesque medieval town square with its beautiful church, ancient buildings and busy Wednesday morning market. There is also a small supermarket with bakery a mere 5-minute walk from the chalet – perfect for getting your freshly baked baguette and croissants for breakfast!
In winter, the free ski bus leaves from a stop just 2-minutes from the chalet. Running approximately every 15 minutes at peak times, you are guaranteed quick and easy access to the main Grand Massif Express lift and our impressive ski domain. Just a snowball’s throw from the chalet you will also find some excellent cross-country skiing terrain (dependent on snow conditions). These trails form a vast network of Nordic trails that run all up and down the valley. The newly built ice-skating rink is little more than a 10-minute walk from the chalet, offering guests yet another favourite winter pastime.
In the summer months a number of walking and mountain bike trails can be accessed within minutes of the property. The GR5, a long distance footpath stretching from the Hook of Holland to Nice, passes close to the chalet along the banks of the Giffre river. It is just one of many walks, long or short, that can be enjoyed from the front door of the chalet. The Grand Massif Express lift is also open in summer, providing guests with access to even more hiking and biking options. Then there is the beautiful Bois Aux Dames lakes and leisure facility with swimming pools, tennis courts, golf driving range, horse riding and more, which is also within easy walking distance of the chalet – approximately 10 to 15-minutes.

Situated right next door is Chalet Lys Martagon, providing additional accommodation for larger groups of families holidaying together.
We had a wonderful stay, Samoens has always been a fantastic place for us to visit and explore, after several short visits this was my first long stay and it was perfect, with awesome biking, an amazing town and community. No doubt we will be back yet again, roll on next year, thanks for helping us have such an easy, trouble free holiday in these challenging times.
Wyatt, Chalet La Cascade, August 2020
Lovely quiet location with an easy stroll to the village. Warm, comfortable chalet and with a remarkably well equipped kitchen which was much appreciated by the cooks in our party. Enjoyed our stay very much.
Robinson, Chalet La Cascade, February 2020
This is the second time of booking our skiing holiday through Alps Accommodation and have received excellent service both times, great website with true representation of accommodation, including useful and comprehensive information of chalets and resort. The in-resort team and chalet owners always promptly responded to questions, provided useful discounts for in-resort services and great to have ski pass delivered direct to chalet. Would definitely use Alps Accommodation again and have already recommended to friends.
Wilkins, Chalet La Cascade, January 2020
Chalet La Cascade is a very comfortable and well-equipped chalet. Our arrival time was a bit uncertain since we were walking in from Evian but the in-resort service was flexible enough to cope. The chalet was the perfect place to relax after our somewhat strenuous journey, and we very much appreciated the bottle of wine in the welcome pack.
Franklin family, Chalet La Cascade, August 2018
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Samoens and our time in Chalet La Cascade. The property was comfortable, clean, well equipped and in a good position for both the town and ski buses. We would happily return and recommend both the property and Alps Accommodation highly.
Fisher family, Chalet la Cascade, March 2017
Brilliant location and chalet. We only had one week and didn’t appreciate the full potential Samoens has to offer for walks and biking until we arrived! Recommend hiring full suspension mountain bikes but be wary of a lack of trail/route markers. Never eaten so much cheese and great food in town. Le bout du Monde at the end of the valley and the route up to the chalet/refuges is an absolute must!

Pete (an Insurable Risk Director) and Sarah (Primary School teacher) live near Reading with their three children. We chose Samoens for its charm, excellent skiing and the winter/summer holiday nature of the village, all within an hour's drive of Geneva airport. We purchased Chalet La Cascade in August 2019 and love its great location and facilities - lounge with log fire, space for everyone to dine together, a well-fitted kitchen with plenty of appliances, south-facing garden with terrace. Balconies front and back that catch the sun both morning and evening, parking space and garage for the bikes. The views from all rooms are beautiful. The village centre is around a 10-minute walk, the ski bus stop is 2 minutes' walk at the end of the lane and there's a small supermarket at about 5 minutes' walk with a large supermarket 5 minutes in the car. Perfect!
