As experienced skiers, the Alps Accommodation team have enjoyed many days and seasons, in various resorts throughout the Alps. While all resorts have their positives and negatives, we simply don't think you can beat the villages of Samoens, Morillon, Sixt, and the Grand Massif ski area. That's one of the reasons we've all decided to call this valley home! They offer an addictive mix of all the important ingredients a winter holiday requires, and most importantly, they compare very favourably in terms of value for money when compared to the other big French resorts.
If you're looking to save money this winter and you normally ski in one of Europe's big name resorts, you could save big this winter by switching to the Grand Massif. And we think you'll have just as much fun, if not more! We trawled the Internet and this is what we have come up with.

When it comes to the cost of lift passes, the Grand Massif can certainly hold its own when compared to the other popular resorts in France and the North Western Alps. Plus when you factor in the Alps Accommodation discount of between 5-20%, the Grand Massif becomes even better value for money.

Samoens is located just one hour drive from Geneva Airport, and as a result airport transfers can be up to 25% cheaper than the likes of Meribel and Val d'Isere. And up to 2 hours less travelling time each way!

The villages of Samoens, Morillon and Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval offer free parking throughout the villages and at the ski lifts. Most of the properties we feature offer private off-street and covered parking. Many resorts require you to park in large underground car parks to go skiing, which research suggests can cost around €100 per week.
Possible saving (4 adults): €100
Make the most of cheaper mid-week flight prices by avoiding the common weekend changeover days. Where possible we offer maximum flexibility and many of the properties we list are now available with flexible arrival day and length of stay outside of peak periods. Plus, we have a good range of Friday to Friday* chalets and apartments, so customers can enjoy far cheaper flights than the standard weekend travel prices. We found during our research on 30th September 2019, that with EasyJet some flights were a staggering 250% more expensive on a Saturday compared to the Friday. BONUS - enjoy quieter mid-week airports and pistes during the weekend too!

Enjoy the flexibility of either a fully self-catered stay, or use one of our catering partners to provide a stocked freezer or partial or flexible catered holiday!

It's not possible for everyone, but if you can, avoid the school holiday periods! And if you can't, then take advantage of the Grand Massif's reliable snow cover and consider the Easter period which is much cheaper all round, still with a great snow record.
Save pennies at lunch time by taking your own picnic, perfect for the warmer spring weeks. There are also several indoor picnic areas throughout the Grand Massif and they are also marked on the area piste map.
It is certainly worth comparing the costs of driving or taking the train to the Alps, rather than flying. Samoens is one of the closest Alps ski resorts for those driving from the UK, while a train station can be found in Cluses just 20mins drive from Samoens. And of course, don't forget the obvious environmental benefits to train transport. Our selection of ski in, ski out properties, or properties close to a lift, and excellent free ski bus network means a car isn't essential once you arrive here in Samoens, Morillon and Sixt.
On most of our owner's properties, we can offer returning guests a 5-10% discount for instant savings!
