Additional Winter Activities - Samoens and Morillon
A brand new 56m x 26m ice skating rink opened in October 2015. Competition standard, this fantastic new addition will be open every evening for all the family with boots available to hire. Plus ice hockey matches, spectacles, ice dancing and more throughout the winter - check out the opening times and match details at the rink. There is a smaller ice skating rink open next to Lac Bleu in Morillon village.
December 2017 update - Unfortunately the bowling alley is currently closed, awaiting more information.
November 2015 saw the opening of the new bowling alley, River Bowl, just on the edge of Samoens, next to the Carrefour supermarket. 6 lanes, tapas and burger bar / restaurant, pool tables and loads of lounge seating it's sure to be a welcome addition. Open during the season every day, all day from 11am until 2am, and during the quiet season every day except Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

We’ve partnered with ‘Massage Me’, an experienced team of massage therapists, to offer you a variety of fantastic treatments. They will come to your accommodation - plus Alps Accommodation Guests receive a 10% discount!
Their tailor made service means you can choose a treatment to suit your needs, whether it’s a Swedish massage (traditional relaxing), deep tissue or sports massage. Or why not indulge in one of their ‘luxury treatments’, choose from a warming hot stone massages, a selection of gorgeous aromatherapy treatments, or a luscious assortment of facials.
For the die-hard ski fans, Massage Me has developed the ‘Mega Legs’ treatment, designed exclusively with the skier/snowboarder in mind. This deep tissue treatment will rejuvenate aching muscles and keep you on the slopes from first lifts to last.
Therapists are on hand between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday and 12am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday. Prices start from as little as 45€. For groups there are 15% discounts available for bookings of 3 or more consecutive hours, so it’s ideal for getting everyone involved. Raquettes, Snowshoeing and Animal Tracking
This is an activity not to be missed. There are guided trips for all levels of fitness, adults and children, and specially prepared tracks, you can also walk under the stars to a meal stop with an organised group. Our local qualified guide Jamie Carr can provide snowshoe walks for all abilities, from half day walks to overnight stops in a refuge. Jamie knows all the best places to see the local wildlife, and there may also be the opportunity to build your own igloo! Avalanche Rescue Introductory Course

Luge and tobogganing There are 2 luge/sledging runs at Samoens 1600. On the plateau at the top of the Grand Massif Express there are two new luge runs for children of all ages. From 16m long for the young ones through to 60m for the older children (and Dads!). There is also a Luge run on the col de Joux Plane, great fun for children, teenagers and adults! Accessible by car or via a shuttle service from the village.
Shopping and sightseeing Samoens itself has won awards for being a historic village of beauty. Amble around its medieval streets lined with a range of over 40 shops, ranging from chocolatiers, to numerous sports and clothing stores for all price ranges, chic and Savoyard alpine homeware stores, wine and sausage specialist shops and 3 amazing bakeries. There are also 12 cafes and over 25 restaurants to chose from, all within a snowballs throw of the heart of Samoens centre. Samoens has a beautiful church, well worth a visit, or walk through the botanical garden past the frozen waterfall, up to the pretty chapel, and take in the villages fabulous views. The Tourist Office puts on various entertainments in the village square ranging from kids' events and live music concerts to antique and crafts fairs throughout the year. The historic tour of Samoens village is a must, where you will discover the past of Samoens and visit the oldest buildings in the medieval centre.
Morillon also offers further sites to visit, either a short 5 min drive, or hop on the free ski bus, to find a further selection of shops, cafes and restaurants, or take a stroll around the lake "Lac Bleu"with breathtaking views at every turn. Both Morillon and Samoens hold weekly typical French markets for locals and tourists alike. If that is not enough, some fabulous resorts and cities such as Chamonix, Morzine, Annecy, Geneva are all within 1 hour drive.

Fat Biking - Fat bikes are mountain bikes with extra fat, knobbly tyres designed for riding on snow. From soft play areas, to water parks with slides, indoor climbing walls for all ages, fitness activities, warm indoor and outdoor pools, shops, lunch - it's all there. Ideal for sunny, rainy or snowy days!
