Le Bella Vista is a wonderfully light and spacious 3 bedroom apartment sleeping 8 guests, is located in the village centre of Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval, an area of outstanding natural beauty.  Spanning 98m2, this luxurious apartment is located in a 200 year old stone building, constructed originally as the mayor’s house, and has been renovated completely to an excellent standard, with the owner’s exceptional attention to detail obvious throughout the property. Le Bella Vista has been decorated with a blend of calming neutral tones, with the occasional splash of vibrancy to create a stylish property that retains a comfortable and homely atmosphere. There is a real feel of quality throughout the apartment, from luxurious soft furnishings to rustic wooden pieces of furniture and charming decorative items.

Le Bella Vista means 'beautiful view' in Italian, and the apartment doesn't disappoint with every window providing exceptional and ever changing mountainscapes. One of the best vantage points is the 8m2 balcony accessed from the open plan lounge/dining area via large French windows. From its sunny aspect, the balcony offers stunning views over the river Giffre and the village of Sixt, with wonderful panoramic views to be enjoyed with a glass of wine! A ski locker and secure storage area for bikes in the entrance hall/first floor landing are available.

Le Bella Vista is located in the very heart of historic Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval on the banks of the river Giffre, which has won awards for its beauty.  The apartment occupies the first floor of the premises, located above a water rafting hub and café/bar/restaurant.  Directly opposite the property, guests will find the tourist office, and stunning twelfth century Abbey of Sixt, while a bakery, further cafés, restaurants, and an outdoor/rental shop are within a few metres of the apartment. Linked to the vast Grand Massif network, Sixt boasts its very own ski area consisting of beginners pistes, plus the resort is also the end point to the world famous Cascade piste, a 14km long blue piste which winds its way through stunning Alpine scenery from the summit of Flaine. A ski bus stop, just 60m from the apartment, will whisk you efficiently to the local slopes in Sixt, or to the Grand Massif Express in Samoens which offers a speedy link into the impressive Grand Massif network. The apartment is equally well placed for holidays in the Spring, Summer and Autumn. The wonderful Cirque du Fer a Cheval is a short drive, or scenic walk/bike ride, from the property, while white water rafting is available on your doorstep. Sixt sits on the edge of the huge Sixt-Passy nature reserve, providing hikers, bikers and nature lovers with a vast array of stunning unspoilt scenery to explore.  During winter the area is extremely popular for ski touring.

On entering Le Bella Vista, you will immediately feel the homely, calming atmosphere of the property which has been renovated to a wonderfully high standard. A great deal of care and attention has been applied by it's owners, who have combined high quality fixtures and fittings, decor and furnishings with neutral colours and tones, to create a unique apartment.

The main entrance is via a communal hall with private under stairs ski/outdoor equipment  locker. Stairs lead up to your private entrance into the apartment, where on your right a utility room provides excellent further storage for ski/outdoor clothing and equipment.  A washing machine is also provided.

Explore a little further down the hall, and you will find the stylish kitchen. Offering good storage and work surface areas, the kitchen comes fully equipped including a full-size fan oven, 4 ring hob, microwave, dishwasher and a fridge with small freezer section. A coffee machine, with electric grinder are also available. A butcher’s block provides additional space, while a small table and stools offer a quiet corner to relax and enjoy a coffee looking across the river.  A charming cuckoo clock unveils a friendly visitor, adding to the overall charm of the property.

Finally on moving into the bright open plan triple aspect living and dining area, a fabulous convivial space, with French doors giving wonderful views over the Giffre river to soaring peaks beyond. In the living area, two deep and comfortable sofas are arranged around a Sony TV with satellite channels (Freesat) and Sony Playstation games console. Free Wi-Fi is provided. There is a good selection of family board games. In the dining area, a large dining table can comfortably seat 8 people with French doors framing a spectacular alpine scene and a further window offers views to the abbey.

Le Bella Vista boasts three bedrooms and in common with elsewhere in this impressive property, they have been finished and decorated to a very high standard. They feature high quality linen, soft fluffy towels, and comfortable deep mattresses, while each room features an attractive antique effect chest of drawers.

Bedroom 1 is a delightful ensuite bedroom featuring a large queen size bed. The contemporary ensuite bathroom features under floor heating, a large shower, vanity unit with touch screen lighting, built in sink, towel radiator and WC. The room offers impressive views towards Sixt’s historic abbey, with dramatic cliffs and forests looming high above. Good storage is provided by a chest of drawers and additional hanging space.

Bedroom 2 is a another spacious queen bedroom offering the same stunning views and quality furnishings. Ample storage is provided by a charming chest of drawers and hanging space.

Bedroom 3 is a quad bedroom featuring twin beds and full size bunk beds. Enjoy wonderful views looking out over the Giffre River, with huge mountain peaks soaring above. Ample storage is again provided by a chest of drawers with additional hanging space.

Bedrooms 2 & 3 share a bright and fresh family bathroom featuring a bath with under floor heating, integrated shower, vanity unit with sink, large towel radiator, and WC.

A separate WC is also available.

The apartment forms part of the first floor of this imposing building, perched high above the Giffre river, which also provides a start for rafting trips along the Giffre.  Le Bella Vista boasts a long and particularly scenic 8m2 balcony furnished with a table and chairs and intricate bench.  With a sunny south west facing aspect, you can enjoy a relaxing glass of wine with the soothing sounds of the river and wonderful views over quaint Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval towards some of the most impressive peaks and ridges in the valley. Directly opposite the apartment, in the grounds surrounding the beautiful abbey of Six, is a large flat park area for visitors to enjoy.

A private ski locker/storage area is available in the entrance hall. Bikes may also be stored safely on the landing outside the apartment.  

While there is no private parking available, there is plenty of free public parking closeby.

Le Bella Vista boasts an excellent location in the centre of the charming, unspoilt and award winning village of Sixt Fer a Cheval. The apartment it located directly opposite a number of local amenities including a bakery, cafes, bars, restaurants, and an outdoor/ski rental shop, while the beautiful abbey of Sixt and the tourist office are also located opposite.

The village of Sixt has its very own ski area, linked by a free ski bus into the vast Grand Massif.  Sixt ski area is Ideal for beginners or those wanting to escape the crowds and consists of an excellent nursery area, the main section is based around a friendly bar and restaurant. Sixt is also the finishing post of the famous Cascade piste, a stunning 14km decent from the summit of Flaine - something intermediates and advanced skiers really must experience. A ski bus stop, located just 60m from the apartment, will take you effortlessly to the local slopes of Sixt, or to the Grand Massif Express gondola in Samoens which offers an efficient link into the impressive Grand Massif network. Alternatively, ample parking is available in both locations for those wishing to drive. The valley offers an impressive network of cross country skiing pistes with some of the most popular, and snow-sure, pistes accessed a short distance from the apartment.  The Sixt ski area is also a popular area for ski touring.  With a selection of touring routes untouched by other skiers, and all through the breath-taking nature reserve. 

In Summer, Le Bella Vista could not be better positioned! Directly outside the apartment marks the starting point of an exhilarating rafting descent of the Giffre river, all the way to Samoens. The famous Cirque du Fer Cheval, an area of outstanding natural beauty, featuring numerous towering cliffs, stunning mountains and waterfalls, is just a few minutes’ drive away (or a scenic bike ride/hike). Situated on the edge of the huge Sixt-Passy nature reserve, the area is a hiking paradise with a vast network of trails, from gentle walks through sleepy hamlets, to lofty Alpine peaks, and multi day walks involving overnight stays in a variety of excellent refuges.  If that is not enough, the famous waterfall, the Cascade de Rouget, is a scenic short drive or 40 minute walk from the apartment.

"We have been coming to the French Alps skiing for about 20 years and this was the best apartment we have had!  The accommodation was of a really high standard and very well-equipped (especially the kitchen). We were able to relax in the evening on the comfy sofas with a choice of English TV channels, a good internet connection and the PlayStation which was really appreciated by our 11 year old son. There was lots of parking and the boulangerie just opposite for lovely morning bread and pastries.  It was just a short drive to Samoens to the lift and parking was close to the gondola. We were welcomed by Meghan who gave us some good tips on the local area and was quickly available when we had a query during our stay.  We had a fantastic time skiing in the area and would definitely look to book with Alps Accommodation again. "We were a group of six spanning three generations (6-74 years)  staying at Bella Vista in Sixt. The property was the perfect place to rest and recover after a day's skiing with views all around. Ski hire, supermarche, bakery and ski bus stop all within throwing distance. Children enjoyed the little park area opposite for snowballs. Inside scrabble, French monopoly and the games console all well used.  We've previously used Alps Accommodation in Summer (always provide a high standard of accommodation) and stayed in Samoens and knew that Sixt is a sleepy place and that was what we wanted. We knew we'd be staying in after our days skiing. We used the wonderful Tiffanie bakery in Sixt almost every morning... Lovely selection of bread, cakes and also have quiche and other savoury for packed lunch if needed. The local Sherpa supermarche also enough for us to cook each evening... Lots of local cheeses and meats in their deli area. Kitchen well equipped. We relied on ski bus each morning and skied Samoens as well as Sixt (feels a bit wilder and amazing views) and Morillon. We loved our time skiing the Grand Massif, even though half term in the UK and France it never seemed too crowded once you were away from first run  down to the lifts to the top."

About the owner

Our whole family fell in love with Sixt and specifically Le Bella Vista when we were searching for a property in the Samoens valley having sold our apartment in Flaine. The 200-year-old stone building, previously the mayor’s house, is so completely different from the 1960’s Bauhaus architecture of Flaine.  After a total refurbishment we ended up with a really unusual spacious property with stunning views over Sixt. In the winter it is easy to reach the ski area in the Samoens valley but it is also particularly beautiful and tranquil in the summer. The locals are really friendly so lots of opportunity to practise our French - we all agree we feel totally relaxed when staying in Le Bella Vista.
