Description

description

Through the entrance level, you are greeted by the light and spacious open plan living, dining and kitchen area.  The living area boats plenty of seating with a large corner sofa and a separate sofa, so groups don’t need to fight for a comfy spot by the log burner.  The lounge is equipped with HD TV with French and UK satellite channels.  The kitchen offers ample space for entertaining large groups, with a large wooden table seating 10 people with corner bench and cushions, and 4 chairs.

The kitchen is superbly equipped and offers a hob in the central island, meaning the chef can still socialise with the rest of the group, plus there’s plenty of workspace for others to join in with all the food prep!   There is a mid-height full sized oven with microwave above, a large fridge freezer, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and NESPRESSO machine with starter capsules.  There is ample crockery and dishes, plus extras such as a fondue and raclette machine for cheese lovers.  As a luxurious touch in the kitchen is equipped with locally sourced black granite worktops.

Glass french doors lead onto the huge south facing terrace equipped with dining and lounging furniture.  Steps lead down to the extensive garden area, which is home to the hot tub and boasts the largest flat garden we have ever offered in our portfolio! So the perfect place for a game of football or for kids to run around and play safely.

The 270 degree views from all areas of the living and dining room are truly spectacular and beyond the open alpine pastures, a waterfall can be seen, as well as the ski domain in the distance.

The lower floor, can be accessed either via the internal stairs or the parking area.  This level offers an office area, a utility room with storage for skis and boots, bikes, a washing machine and ample hanging space for drying all your gear.  The games room offers table football, plus a selection of kids toys, and extras such as badminton and boules.  Then finally, the snug area offers an extra room that can be converted into a 5th bedroom with use of the double sofa bed, plus  there is a large HD TV with English channels, and Playstation 4 with games which doubles as a DVD player. Please note the head height on the lower ground floor is approximately 185cm (6.07 feet) on this level.

100% of the electricity used at Chalet Toubkal is supplied by renewable sources.

There are 4 highly appointed bedrooms, where the owners have used a mix of modern alpine furnishings, including furry rugs, cowhide cushions, crisp fresh white linen, oak flooring and a range of locally sourced furnishings.

The first bedroom is a bright and fresh twin room.  Located on the entrance level, it has an ensuite shower room, with sink, wc and large shower.  A quirky shape, yet very charming and on prior request if there are lots of couples in the group, the beds can be re arranged as a king-size bed.  There is plenty of hanging and storage, and alpine views are seen through 2 windows, plus a further large window is in the ensuite shower room.

Take the stairs up to the further 3 bedrooms. The master king-size bedroom suite, offers a light and spacious yet incredibly cosy room to relax.  An ensuite with an extra-large bath, separate shower, sink and wc.  There is also the added benefit of a small sofa bed (best suited for a child or teenager) plus a further HD TV with built in DVD player, UK and French channels, so it can be used as a family suite.  Plenty of storage and hanging is provided in the hand built deep cupboards.  This room can be made into a twin bedroom on prior request.  The views are spectacular from the window or the glass door leading out onto the balcony.  Across the alpine pastures a waterfall can be seen and the ski domain in the distance.

Next door is another king size bedroom, again offering high levels of comfort and the same amazing views as the master suite. This room also shares a balcony, plus there is plenty of storage in the deep hand built cupboards, and a further chest of drawers and chair are provided.

Opposite, accessed off the hallway, is a family shower room with large shower, sink and wc.   The mix of stone and wood effect tiles and mosaics, and the over-sized shower head, provide a modern and fresh feel to the room.

The 4th bedroom is a cosy cabin style twin bedroom.  The picture sized window provides views of the mountain behind, and the ample walk in cupboard offers plenty of hanging and shelving space.  Please note there is limited head height for the 2nd bed as it is set below the eaves, yet plenty of room for sitting up in bed with a good book or a cuppa!

For larger groups, there is a snug area on the ground floor, with large double sofa bed, 2 windows look out over the gardens and there is ample storage.  The chalet can accommodate comfortably up to 10 people, or if young kids in the group, 11 can be slept using both the sofa beds.  This is strictly with prior permission at booking stage and further charges may apply for peak weeks.

Location

location

Chalet Toubkal is situated in an enviable position on the edge of Samoëns village, bordering with the idyllic farming hamlet of Les Vallons.  The chalet is set back from a quiet road, offering peace and tranquillity to guests, and yet remains within an easy walk of all the convenience of Samoëns village. This ideal setting and proximity to all that Samoëns  has to offer makes Chalet Toubkal the perfect year-round holiday destination.

It is an easy 10-minute, flat walk to the centre of Samoëns with its many shops, bars, restaurants, small supermarket, picturesque town square, ice skating and more. In winter, there is the added benefit of the free and regular ski bus. The bus stop is just a 5-minute, flat walk away and transports you with ease to the Grand Massif Express lift, from where you can access our impressive skiing domain. If you prefer to be equipment free to and from the chalet, our recommended ski hire shops have storage facilities on the piste and/or near to the lift. And if you like the idea of trying something other than alpine skiing, the chalet is ideally located to the Nordic skiing terrain of Les Vallons (dependant on snow conditions). Our recommended ski hire shops also rent snowshoes and cross-country skiing equipment.

In the summer, the Grand Massif Express lift is open throughout July and August, providing guests with access to a number of alpine hiking and downhill mountain biking trails. A number of beautiful hikes and biking trails can also be accessed direct from the chalet. You can attempt to summit the impressive Criou peak - many locals and holiday makers alike are able to hike to the top and back down in the same day. Or take a gentle stroll along the nearby Giffre river. It is possible to walk to and from the Grand Massif Express lift via the riverside path, which takes approximately 12 minutes. For cyclists, the access to routes is instant and you can avoid any mountain climbs (if you wish) - so fabulous for all abilities and ages!

Just a 5-minute drive away is the village of Sixt Fer a Cheval, an area famous for its outstanding beauty. Admire the numerous waterfalls at the Cirque du Fer a Cheval national park, a very popular place to visit. Chalet Toubkal is also centrally located for visits to the Giffre valley's many other quaint, alpine villages.

Reviews

We have spent a wonderful week in Chalet Toubkal! Immaculate and fully equipped. Communication and information was ideal and our hosts were friendly and supportive. We wholeheartedly recommend this place, even out of season it was fabulous. The village and location is just stunning. We will definitely come again!

Katy, Chalet Toubkal, October 2022

This was our third time in Samoens with Alps Accommodation. The large flat garden with the great views and a tree for shade was a real bonus during the hot and sunny weather.

Paver Family, Chalet Toubkal, June 2022

We just wanted to thank you for such a wonderful chalet - it was spot on for us for the week. Lovely and clean and well stocked and had everything we needed! We also made good use of the hot tub which we loved! Hopefully we will be back another year!

Taylor, April 2022, Chalet Toubkal

Thanks for a great week. The most complete chalet we have ever been to. Thanks very much!

Gorter, January 2022, Chalet Toubkal

Great week with extraordinary weather in a magnificent region. As far as the chalet is concerned, everything is top notch, with a plus for the jacuzzi and the sauna. Superb service.

PARENT, January 2022, Chalet Toubkal

Another lovely stay which was delayed by two years because of COVID-19. We were glad to be back, thank you!

The Stewarts, January 2022, Chalet Toubkal

We will keep excellent memories of this sunny week! The chalet is very comfortable, perfect for 3 families, well located, spa and sauna enjoyed by all! Table football, Playstation 4, football goal and badminton games were enjoyed by the kids. An address to remember for the future!

Perfect stay that we will do again! Very comfortable chalet for our group of 5 people.

Murat, Chalet Toubkal, August 2021

We had a great & cool stay at Chalet Toubkal in Samoëns, under a magnificent sun all week. Everything was great, the chalet is very well equipped. We are looking forward to returning, hopefully next year. Thank you for everything.

Olivier and family, Chalet Toubkal, July 2021

Everything was perfect; the chalet is perfectly equipped, both in appliances and in games. We had a little rain during our stay, but with all the equipment we never got bored! The view from the chalet directly over the waterfall is breath-taking.

Balsen, Chalet Toubkal, May 2021

We spent a wonderful week at Chalet Toubkal the first week of March. The charming chalet is wonderfully equipped and the communication with Alison was top notch from start to finish. In spite of the ski lifts being closed (due to Covid restrictions) and lack of snow in the village due to the warm "spring-like" weather, we never lacked things to do. Samoens is really a charming village, and the beginner area in Samoens 1600 was open for a bit off easy skiing for the younger kids and some sledging for the bigger ones. Thanks again to Alison and her family for being wonderful hosts! Highly recommended!

Cathrina Henriksen, Chalet Toubkal, March 2021.

We had a great week at Chalet Toubkal. The service is great. Thank you so much!

Bizet Family, Chalet Toubkal, September 2020

Well-equipped chalet with comfortable beds and a great garden. The chalet is an excellent base for walking and hiking. You must try 'Fat-Scooting'! Thank you.

Parker Family, Chalet Toubkal, July/August 2020

What an amazing experience! We're a family of 6 from Cape Town who haven't been on ski's before, we were much more at home in the bush/ocean than in the snowy mountains with ski's on our feet. Not any more!!! Chalet Toubkal was everything we've hoped for when we start planning our family ski holiday. It's a spacious, modern, well designed holiday chalet with excellent beds, linen and pillows. The kitchen is better equipped than any home we've stayed in before and the image and memories of the large, well designed and cozy living area, with fire place, hot tub and sauna will stay forever in our minds. All their referrals...Zigzag ski school,Extreme Glisses Equipment, GoMassif transfers turned out to be the best and lastly, the little country village Samoëns and the Grand Massif Ski slopes, are very very special.

Martinette, Chalet Toubkal January 2020

Excellent service once again. The chalet is fabulous and we have booked it again for next January! If we needed anything during our stay a Katrin & David were only a call away.

Stewart, Chalet Toubkal, January 2020

Very comfortable chalet for our group of 5, well equipped, comfortable beds/linen, quiet location close to the beautiful village.

Luguet, Chalet Toubkal, January 2020

Most excellent accommodation, a home away from home. Spent time exploring the whole Haute-Savoie area, such beauty and history. Samoens is a very special place, we hope it stays just as it is. We will be back here again. Many thanks for everything - it was perfect.

The Connolly family, Chalet Toubkal, May 2019

Great chalet, had a fabulous week. The conditions were great for skiing. We would recommend Le Serac in Samoens, the lasagne was to die for!

The Davies Family, Chalet Toubkal, February 2019

Great holidays - very comfortable chalet. Here for our son's 21st birthday and had loads of snow on the day, perfect! Lovely location.

The Stewart Family, Chalet Toubkal, January 2019

Beautiful chalet in stunning location.. Extremely well equipped kitchen and super comfortable beds. Great walk into and around the village, and the hot tub and sauna for weary limbs. Thanks for letting us be part of this special place - we will be back.

Laue, Chalet Toubkal, November 2018

Beautiful property in gorgeous scenic surroundings. Excellent service from Alps Accommodation staff both before holiday (Hayley and Barbara to mention two) and whilst on holiday (Liam and Ollie). We had a fantastic time and went on many gorgeous walks.

Brown party, Chalet Toubkal, September 2018

Lovely holiday, Liam and Ollie were there straightaway to sort anything out. Great chalet, thank you for the welcome pack. The kids loved the hot tub, and also the inflatable part and area at Lac Bleu. Climbing at Sixt Fer a Cheval is amazing! Thanks for the memories.

The Huntington Family, August 2018

The chalet was perfect for our requirements and situated in a idyllic yet central location. The welcome basket was greatly appreciated and the staff extremely helpful, responding quickly to any queries. Thank you for a lovely holiday. We hope to visit again and would definitely recommend.

Parkes family, Chalet Toubkal, August 2018

Thanks for providing us with an amazing chalet for our holiday in Samoens. We have had a fantastic family holiday and the chalet really was perfect - location, hot tub, facilities and bike storage.  Big thanks to Liam, Barbs and Paul. They all looked after us throughout the stay and helped out when we had questions.

Abbott Family, Chalet Toubkal, June 2018

A wonderful experience from start to finish; from the time we were greeted at the chalet by Gabby and Freddie from Alps Accommodation to the day we left (reluctantly).
The chalet had everything we needed and more. Within a day we were calling it ‘home’. Kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and living areas were second to none. So often, holiday accommodation has beds and mattresses that are basic and uncomfortable - quite the opposite with Chalet Toubkal. Add to the general ambience the fact that we could enjoy a soak in the hot tub and a detox in the barrel sauna and you have an idyllic place to stay in a spectacular setting. Don’t delay. This is special.

Kerr family, Chalet Toubkal, January 2018

Fantastic holiday at Chalet Toubkal. It was lovely clean accommodation, had a great open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area and very comfortable bedrooms. The hot tub and sauna were great and a lovely way to end the day. The chalet is just a short walk into Samoens town centre, so very well located. We have already booked to stay again and will definitely be back next year. Thanks to all involved for your help.

Simms party, Chalet Toubkal, 2018.

I was really impressed by every aspect, from booking process to on site service and beyond. Hayley, Gabby, Freddie and Paul were all excellent.

Philip Kerr, Chalet Toubkal, January 2018

Another wonderful stay in this perfect chalet. Everything is 1st class. Many thanks.

The Sutherlands, Chalet Toubkal, October 2016

What a wonderful place to spend our holiday with the family. The views and the hot tub.

Jackson family, Chalet Toubkal, September 2016

Chalet Toubkal provides an excellent, stylish, clean home from home in the Alps. Ash and Mike gave us the initial tour of the property on our arrival and they kept in touch over our holiday to make sure we had everything we needed - We could not fault the service provided. We have stayed in many Chalets over the last few years but never received this level of service before. The chalet is in an excellent location with extensive views of the snow capped mountains from the balcony or the hot tub. It provided an excellent hub for our sons downhill mountain biking and our visits to the local towns and even further afield to Annecy and Chamonix. We hope to return one day.

Martyn Pegg, Chalet Toubkal, June 2016.

We had an excellent week's stay within the accommodation. Everything was as expected.  Thank you for your customer service whilst booking. Also thank you for helping with many general queries about the area.  Would highly recommend Alps Accommodation to others.

Vaag party, Chalet Toubkal, March 2016.

We enjoyed our break more than most others previous, due mainly to the ambiance and facility afforded by this wonderful property. Our daughter truly loved staying in the chalet and is still talking about how much she misses it. I am certain we will return at some point and will be in touch; in the meantime I would be grateful if you would pass on our comments to the owners, who have clearly thought about every detail with a great deal of quality and care. Can I also ask you to thank Paul for his friendly and helpful show round, which enabled us to settle on arrival. Many thanks again.

Paul, Chalet Toubkal, July 2015.

About the owners

Chalet Toubkal was purchased in 2014 by Alps Accommodation's owners Tom and Ali.  We live in Samoens year round and originally bought the chalet to become our own family home.  We fell in love with Toubkal due to its potential, quiet location, stunning uninterrupted views, and truly alpine setting on the edge of Samoens village.  As the renovations progressed, we changed our focus and realised it would make the perfect rental property.  The fact that it was a complete renovation project was so interesting for us, as we love a project! Taking a chalet with so much charm and giving it a full renovation over 12 months, was quite a challenge.  We are delighted to include Chalet Toubkal within our rental portfolio and really hope you will enjoy staying here! Tom and Ali Ward-Lee
