Chalet Sisu is entered from a large gravel parking area through a spacious heated boot room. The boot room has a generous amount of space to store ski boots and other outdoor equipment. The garage can be accessed directly from the chalet and provides parking for one car with a rack for ski/board storage. Carry on further into the chalet and a large games room awaits boasting table tennis, a leather sofa, music system, and a comforting warmth underfoot provided by under floor heating – a feature found on the lower two floors of the chalet. A hallway to the left leads you off to a utility room providing plenty more storage or drying space, along with a separate washing machine and dryer and the first twin bedroom and bathroom.

Tiled stairs lead you from the ground floor up to the open plan living, dining and kitchen areas. Light floods in through large French windows which frame the stunning backdrop of rugged cliffs towering overhead while the large sunny terrace gives you a place to take a seat and admire. Chalet Sisu has a large, well equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, giving guests no excuses when it comes to cooking up a perfect meal! A large fridge/freezer, full size electric oven, 4 ring ceramic hob, Nespresso coffee machine as well as electric filter coffee machine, and dishwasher are just a few of the highlights. To the left of the kitchen, the dining area seating up to 10, takes up a fantastic position giving stunning views down the valley towards Samoens, or out through the French windows towards imposing mountain of La Pointe de Sales at almost 2500m. Beyond the dining area sits the cosy living area – a collection of two leather sofas, and two armchairs set around the warmth of a large wood burner. The living area also benefits from an LCD TV with satellite receiver, DVD player, Wi-Fi, and iPod dock while a selection of DVDs, board games and books are also provided. A lazy evening in front of the fire with a glass of wine and a good board game are a must!

Chalet Sisu boasts an enviable position in the unspoilt village of Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval, officially recognised as ‘one of the most beautiful villages in France’. Perfectly situated to make the most of your winter holiday, the chalet is equally sought after as a summer destination.

During winter, Chalet Sisu sits right in the action, on the pistes of Sixt’s very own ski area, which is also part of the Grand Massif. The chalet is in fact very close to the foot of the 14km blue Cascade piste, which descends from Flaine. Just a short walk from slope-side bars and nursery slopes, Chalet Sisu is also conveniently located just 10-12mins walk away from the historic village of Sixt.   At the top of the nursery area is where you will find the stop for the free and regular ski bus linking you with the other resorts of the Grand Massif namely Samoens and Morillon.

In summer, the chalet is surrounded by lush meadows and provides the perfect starting point for a number of alpine walking and mountain bike trails. The Cascade du Rouget is a spectacular waterfall situated just minutes by car from the chalet, or around a 35 minute walk.  Likewise, you can drive to the impressive Cirque du Fer-a-Cheval in little more than 5 minutes, or if you wish to walk, there is a lovely trail along the river to take you there, which is also great for mountain/off road bikes.

The area is extremely popular, offering some of the most spectacular walks in the valley. And if you don’t fancy walking all the way, the ski lifts are open during July and August for hikers, mountain bikers, and sightseers alike.

About the owner

Sue and Peter fell in love with Sixt’s wild beauty in 2005, and have owned Chalet Sisu since that time. Their four sons were all taught to ski by Sixt’s ESF staff, and all the boys now delight in coming back to ski from the chalet. Being right beside Sixt’s ski slopes means that children can ski-in and and ski-out at will, which makes for much more relaxed family holidays!  Peter worked in France for many years, and has employed the skills of local artisans to refine and upgrade Chalet Sisu, which is the family’s second home. Peter, Sue and their family are frequent winter and summer visitors. Come and enjoy!
